To the editor:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I listened to the impeachment inquiry witnesses, and found\nthem credible, professional and consistent. I watched the fact-free\ndefense the GOP threw at the TV cameras that consisted of misdirection,\nopinions, lies and unsupported assertions. There was no defensible scenario or\nconcrete evidence offered to counter witness testimony. I am convinced\nthat impeachment and removal from office are both warranted and necessary for\nTrump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men who \u201cframed\u201d the structure of our government in\nthe constitution gave the three branches of government (Executive, Legislative\nand Judicial) the duty and responsibility to check and balance each other. The\nframers trusted that people in these branches would be steadfast, honor their\nsolemnly sworn oath to uphold The Constitution and the laws, and keep the\nwelfare of the people and the nation uppermost in their minds. Sadly, we must\nrecognize that trust is now being betrayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The impeachment process can deal with corrupt individuals in\nthe government. But we have no process or referee to cope with situation we\nface today. Many GOP senators have openly and publicly refused to honor their\noath of office and perform their constitutional responsibilities to serve as\nimpartial jurors during the Senate trial. Their party leaders have stated that\nremoving Trump from office will not happen, no matter how clear cut and\nconvincing the case before them. They are on record supporting the presidency\nof a man who puts his political ambitions ahead of national security. A man who\nhas issued a challenge to you, me and every other law abiding citizen in\nAmerica, saying in effect \u201cYou might have to obey a subpoena, but I don\u2019t and neither\ndo the people in my regime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you call it when people in power refuse to obey the\nlaw, act with disregard for the interests and welfare of the nation, disseminate\nfalse narratives (a\/k\/a propaganda), block election security legislation and\nrefuse to prosecute a leader who is accused of impeachable offenses?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I call it a coup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
