Be a part of the 42nd annual Winter Living Celebration from\n11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at Rogers Environmental Education\nCenter in Sherburne. Hosted by Friends of Rogers, this free family-friendly event\nhas activities for everyone to enjoy the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s exciting to have the biggest winter celebration in the\narea for the 42nd year,\u201d said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive\ndirector. \u201cThanks to the generosity of Blueox Energy and Neighborhood Markets\nfor the second year, we can provide this event to the community at no charge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual favorite horse-drawn sleigh ride is provided by Lamplit\nFarm again this year, with the backup of a wagon ride if there isn\u2019t enough\nsnow for the sleigh. Either way, the ride is one of the memories your family\nwill cherish for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In keeping with Winter Living Celebration tradition,\nvisitors have the opportunity to be a \u201chuman bird-feeder,\u201d try cross-country\nskiing or snowshoeing, view environmental conservation officer and forest\nranger demonstrations, view the Maple Experience by NYS Maple, try the Rogers\nCenter maple syrup from our own sugar bush, and make campfire s\u2019mores provided\nby Victorian Rose of Bouckville. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live music by the Susquehanna String Band will entertain you\nas you warm up in the visitor center, along with representatives from the Chenango\nBird Club, Bullthistle Hiking Club and Knapp Knoll Woodworks. Boise Bees Fluffy\nCreates and Ginny Marris will be vendors in the Bird Cabin with the kid\u2019s\ncrafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy interactive live demonstrations on cross-cut sawing,\nice-fishing and ice rescue. Thanks to the Chenango Bird Club and the Rotary\nClub of Sherburne, refreshments will be available for purchase, with all\nproceeds to benefit Friends of Rogers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Winter Living Celebration is the perfect opportunity to\nembrace winter and learn a new outdoor activity.\u201d said Heather Tehan, Friends\nof Rogers director of development. \u201cWe serve the community and offering this\nwonderful learning experience at no charge is an important piece of the environmental\neducation we provide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there is no charge, Friends of Rogers encourages\ncontributions to support future operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers\u00a0Environmental\u00a0Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Grounds are open daily, dawn to dusk; visitor center hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
