Troopers make a second\narrest in stolen auto parts investigation<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Jan. 25, 2020, state police in Lee arrested\n21-year-old Colton L. Shaffer of Rome for second-degree auto stripping\nand fourth-degree grand larceny (both class E felonies) and second-degree criminal\nmischief (a class D felony).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a two-month-long investigation, Shaffer is accused\nof destroying and damaging several vehicles and stealing their catalytic\nconverters for scrap. He acted in concert with Richard Tennant, Jr., who was\npreviously arrested Jan. 17, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaffer was additionally charged with third-degree burglary (a\nclass D felony) for a second incident in the outer district of Rome, where he\nentered a barn and stole several catalytic converters off of several vehicles\nowned by the complainant. Shaffer then sold those converters to a business in\nthe town of Marcy and received money for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaffer was arraigned in the Oneida County Centralized\nArraignment Court and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail on $5,000 bail. He\nis scheduled to return to Rome City Court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jan. 30, 3030\n[UPDATE]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrest made in\nconnection with 2019 Mattydale car-house crash that killed resident<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Jan. 30, 2020, state police arrested Bryan K. Walters, 59,\nof Mattydale, for second-degree manslaughter (a class C felony), following an\nOnondaga County Grand Jury indictment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walters was arraigned in Onondaga County Court and released\non his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear back in Onondaga County\nCourt Feb. 13, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[ORIGINAL] On June 1, 2019, at approximately 1:47 p.m., state\npolice in North Syracuse responded to 202 Mohawk Drive in the town of Salina\nregarding a vehicle that struck a house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigation revealed a 2017 Dodge Charger operated by\n58-year-old Bryan K. Walters was driving southbound on Plymouth Avenue South\nwhen Walters drove through two stop signs without stopping and then struck the\nhouse located at 202 Mohawk Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle went through the front of the residence and came\nto a rest entirely within the structure; the homeowner, Eugene F. Addison, 70,\nhad been seated in the front living room of the residence and was located\npinned underneath the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addison was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walters was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital Health\nCenter, where he was treated and released. The preliminary investigation\nsuggests that he may have had unknown medical condition just prior to the\naccident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
