Oakes is\ncredited for igniting the resurgence of the Native American rights movement in\nuniversity curricula and in Federal Government circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">George-Kanentiio is\nthe author of \u201cIroquois on Fire\u201d and \u201cIroquois Culture and Commentary.\u201d He is\nalso co-author with his wife Joanne Shenandoah of the picture book \u201cSkywoman:\nLegends of the Iroquois,\u201d published in 1998. A graduate of Syracuse University\nand the Antioch School of Law, he has been an editor of \u201cAkwesasne Notes\u201d and a\ncontributor to many national newspapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talk is free and\nopen to the public.
