The Disney Dreamers Academy theme\nis \u201cBe 100,\u201d encouraging teens to be positive, to be \u201call in\u201d and to carry what\nthey learn back with them, so they can relentlessly pursue their dreams and\nmake a difference in the lives of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter 12 successful years, we know the profound impact this\nprogram has on these students,\u201d said Tracey D. Powell, Walt Disney World Resort\nvice president and Disney Dreamers Academy executive champion. \u201cOne dream can\nchange the world, and through Disney Dreamers Academy, we hope to help these\namazing teens turn their dreams into reality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating students, known as \u201cDisney Dreamers,\u201d embark\non a journey throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks and behind the scenes\nof this 40-square-mile vacation destination. It\u2019s a vibrant classroom where\nstudents discover new career opportunities, pursue their dreams, and interact\nwith Harvey and other celebrities and motivational speakers. Past celebrity\nparticipants have included singer NE-YO, NBA legend and business mogul Magic\nJohnson, the star of the Disney\u2019s upcoming live-action \u201cLittle Mermaid\u201d Halle\nBailey, gospel music star Yolanda Adams and personalities and cast members from\nacross the Disney corporate family including Good Morning America, ESPN, Disney\nChannel, and TV series \u201cblack-ish\u201d and \u201cgrown-ish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students participate in immersive career-oriented workshops\nthat explore a wide range of career disciplines found at Walt Disney World,\nlearning life tools such as effective communication techniques, leadership\nskills and networking strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know from personal experience that big dreams lead to big\nsuccess,\u201d said Harvey. \u201cDisney understands that concept better than any other\ncompany and that is why I partner with them every year on this program to\nencourage big dreams for the next generation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2008, Walt Disney World Resort has provided\nall-expenses-paid trips to more than 1,200 students, plus a parent or guardian,\nto participate in the annual Disney Dreamers Academy. Students are selected\nfrom thousands of applicants who answered essay questions about their personal\nstories and dreams for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMeeting the 100 impressive students selected for Disney\nDreamers Academy each year is a personal highlight for me,\u201d said Michelle\nEbanks, Chief Executive Officer of Essence Communications Inc. \u201cI am continually\namazed by their ambition, talent and perseverance.
