Funds will be used to purchase wheelchair-accessible van to transport participants of the Many Hearts Senior Care Center at RCIL<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The\nResource Center for Independent Living has been awarded a Grant from the Mother\nCabrini Health Foundation that will enable RCIL to purchase a wheelchair-accessible\nvan that will be used to transport participants of the Many Hearts Senior Care\nCenter at RCIL. This new van will expand access to the Center for isolated\nolder adults and help increase participant satisfaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe\npurchase of this wheelchair-accessible van, made possible by the Mother Cabrini\nHealth Foundation grant, will make a tremendous difference by enabling RCIL\u2019s\nMany Hearts Senior Care Center to serve more seniors in our community and\nultimately improve their overall quality of life,\u201d said Georgianna Sanges, RCIL\nmarketing coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanges\nsaid the new van will be used to transport Many Hearts Senior Care Center participants\nto cultural activities, shopping, movies and other trips into the community, as\nwell as to provide door-to-door transportation to and from the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These\nopportunities promote independence and increase the social interaction and\ncommunity involvement of the program participants while combatting isolation,\nloneliness and lack of engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMother\nCabrini spent her life devoted to those who faced the greatest struggles, and\nthe Foundation named in her honor is proudly carrying on her legacy,\u201d said MCHF\nCEO Monsignor Gregory Mustaciuolo. \u201cFrom supporting pediatric cardiac care\nunits in children’s hospitals to expanding mental health services to enhancing\nimmigrants\u2019 access to services, our inaugural grants are already making a\ndifference in communities across New York state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many\nHearts Senior Care Center at RCIL services include individualized care\nplanning, door-to-door transportation, nutritious snacks and lunch, personal\ncare, a beautiful and accessible outdoor garden space, a variety of activities,\naccess to salon services, social interaction, field trips and connection to the\nbroad range of services available through community resources. Participation in\nthe Many Hearts Senior Care Center at RCIL supports the self-determination and\nindependence of elderly residents in our area as it helps individuals age in\nplace and avoid institutionalization.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
