Targeting Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties, it will\nrecruit people and organize a coalition of groups to knock on doors, host\nrallies and house parties, register people to vote, hold phone banks and\norganize on college campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campaign organizers indicated that they are working with the\nBernie Sanders campaign to have the candidate schedule a rally in Utica before\nthe primary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur group is urging Bernie Sanders and his team to make a\npit stop in April before the New York primary heats up,\u201d said Bernie supporter,\nformer Democratic Assembly candidate and national delegate Keith Rubino. \u201cDelegates\nare at stake, and New York is a battleground.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CNY for Bernie will hold its first public meetup event to\nrecruit volunteers and plan outreach events at 6:30 p.m. March 17 at The Other\nSide, 2011 Genesee St., Utica.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public is invited to show support for Bernie by marching\nin the Utica St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade March 14.&nbsp;Utica City 5th Ward\nCouncilman&nbsp;Delvin Moody, Rubino, CD-22 National Bernie Delegate Candidates\nShamariah Pratt-Sullivan&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jennifer DeRocco will lead the march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supporters should meet at 9:30 a.m. in the\nPin-O-Rama&nbsp;bowling alley, 1724 Genesee St., Utica, near the Bagel Grove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on how to get involved, call\n315.360.2385, email <a href=\"mailto:CNYForBernie@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNYForBernie@gmail.com<\/a>,\nvisit CNYForBernie.com, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CNYforBernie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">facebook.com\/CNYforBernie\/<\/a>, @CNYForBernie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bernie is running on a platform championing economic,\nsocial, racial and environmental justice for all. Bernie has a detailed plan to\npay for his initiatives through enacting a wealth tax on the top 0.1 percent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to vote in the Democratic Presidential primary April\n28, voters must register in person at the Board of Elections or a New York state\nagency by April 3 or have their application postmarked by April 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn 2020, we need a president that will not only take on\nDonald Trump but someone who understands the issues important to everyday\nAmericans,\u201d said Moody, who took office in January this year.&nbsp;\u201cBernie\u2019s\nplan for America and for my community is the bold change this country needs. He\nis building a strong coalition and a people-powered movement that will finally\nput progressive policies on the agenda. From housing and a living wage, all the\nway to climate change, Bernie has a plan. I am honored to support Senator\nSanders to be the next President.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rubino, who ran for Assembly in the 118th District in 2018,\nexpressed his frustration with the sudden gathering around Joe Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBernie represents the real deal,\u201d Rubino said. \u201cWe tried a\nmiddle-of-the-road Democrat in 2016, and that didn\u2019t excite enough people. And\nnow we\u2019ve got a national party gathering around the same kind of candidate\nagain, pushing him down the throat of progressives who are tired of being told\nto vote for someone \u2018because they\u2019re not Trump.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want someone who\u2019s not just running to beat Trump but to\nchange this country with actual policies that help and elevate middle class.\nThis stagnant middle-of-the-road approach is how we got Trump in the first place,\nand I don\u2019t know why we\u2019re interested in trying it again with Joe Biden. The\ndefinition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Bernie Sanders is the candidate who will build a Green\nNew Deal and a livable future for my generation,\u201d said Eric Stenzel, hub coordinator\nfor Sunrise Movement Hamilton College. \u201cThe climate crisis will\ndisproportionately impact marginalized communities, and Bernie is the only\ncandidate with plans to address the crisis with justice and equity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m voting for Bernie because (amongst other reasons) no\nfamily should be forced to choose between financial stability and getting their\nchildren the medical care they need,\u201c said Pratt-Sullivan, a local Bernie\nsupporter. \u201cUnder the current for-profit system, our son&#8217;s five-month\nhospitalization led to us having to leave our new house, move across several\nstates and file bankruptcy.
