{"id":111484,"date":"2020-03-10T09:16:28","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T13:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=111484"},"modified":"2020-03-10T09:16:28","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T13:16:28","slug":"oneida-health-announces-visitor-restrictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=111484","title":{"rendered":"Oneida Health announces visitor restrictions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"206\" height=\"43\" src=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/OneidaHealth-Logo-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-111487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/OneidaHealth-Logo-2.png 206w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/OneidaHealth-Logo-2-150x31.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 206px) 100vw, 206px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hospital and Extended Care limiting visitation due to\nviruses<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective immediately, Oneida Health will be limiting\nvisitation to the hospital and restricting any visitors to the Extended Care\nFacility until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Oneida Health Hospital will be limiting visitor hours\nfrom 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in an effort to reduce exposure to the COVID-19 coronavirus\nand the spread of influenza to patients and staff. \u201cThe safety of our patients\nand staff is always our top priority,\u201d said President and CEO Gene Morreale.\n\u201cWhile there have not been any confirmed cases of coronavirus in Central New\nYork, with the recent reports and high rate of influenza occurring, we are\nconfident that these measures will support our efforts to provide the highest\nlevel of care during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these restrictions, the hospital also requests\nanyone with any symptoms of respiratory illness refrain from visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the hospital, the Oneida Health\nRehabilitation and Extended Care will not be allowing any visitors until\nfurther notice due to some recent cases of influenza with residents and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe do not take the decision to restrict visitors from\nseeing their loved ones lightly,\u201d said Morreale. \u201cWe have had several cases of\nthe flu among our residents and staff recently, which is not uncommon during\nthis time of year, but requires us to take immediate precautions to limit its\nimpact on the health and safety of our residents and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the restriction on visitors would only be\ntemporary until the spread of influenza is resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are working closely with the state Department of Health\nand the Madison County Department of Health to monitor COVID-19 trends,\nguidance on best practices and suggested measures to treat patients who may\nhave symptoms related to the coronavirus,\u201d Morreale said. \u201cBe confident, though\nCOVID-19 is new, our health team is experienced and receives training for\ninstances similar to this one on an ongoing basis.
