Playing at the largest free festival in the United States is a true highlight of summer for us! I\u2019m so glad the promoters like my band\u2019s eclectic musical style and I want to thank them once again for having my band return.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oct. 14, 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of Fritz’s Polka Band. FPB made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play at a Woodstock Festival. FPB appears on “The Manchurian Candidate” DVD, released in 2004. In 2011, FPB had two songs (\u2018Grandparent\u2019s Polka\u2019 and \u2018Here Is Fritz\u2019s Polka Band\u2019) included in two episodes of the TV show, \u2018Breaking Bad.\u2019 In November 2018, FPB released its 19th recording, \u201cHey!,\u201d which featured Rocko Dorsey, Ron Keck and Todd Kerns (from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, TOQUE, Age of Electric and more) as special guests. In winter of 2019, FPB\u2019s recording \u201cHey!\u201d was nominated for a Syracuse Area Music Award. In autumn 2019, FPB was nominated for Band of the Year as well as New, Original Polka Song by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame. Additionally, Fritz Scherz was nominated for Musician of the Year and Button-Box: Artist or Duo awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On March 4, FPB won a Syracuse Area Music Award (SAMMY) for its recording, \u201cThe Hands Of Time,\u201d which was released Oct. 1, 2021. \u201cThe Hands Of Time\u201d features special guests: Joe Bonamassa (Joe Bonamassa, Black Country Communion & Rock Candy Funk Party), Deen Castronovo (Bad English, Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, The Dead Daisies, Generation Radio), Rocko Dorsey, Ron Keck, Joey Miskulin (Frank Yankovic, Riders In The Sky), Freddy Scherz, the late Fred Scherz Sr., and Derek Sherinian (Alice Cooper, Dream Theatre, Black Country Communion, Joe Bonamassa & Sons Of Apollo).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
