{"id":40311,"date":"2013-01-01T10:20:48","date_gmt":"2013-01-01T15:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=40311"},"modified":"2013-01-01T10:20:55","modified_gmt":"2013-01-01T15:20:55","slug":"state-police-continue-impaired-driving-enforcement-campaign-through-the-new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=40311","title":{"rendered":"State Police Continue Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign through the New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Jan. 2013) The New York State Police are reminding motorists of the national impaired driving enforcement campaign called the &#8220;Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over National Crackdown,&#8221; which began Friday, Dec. 14 and will continue through New Years Day.\u00a0 More than 20,000 police agencies nationwide are expected to participate.<\/p>\n<p>During this period, the New York State Police planned 30 sobriety checkpoints, 10 saturation details, 18 underage drinking and sales to minors details, and 41 additional dedicated local DWI patrols.\u00a0 Saturation details consist of multiple roving units that target a specific area of focus.\u00a0 It is a massive effort supported largely through grants from the Governor&#8217;s Traffic Safety Committee, aimed at preventing tragedies during the Holiday Season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Holiday Season is all about the joy of families and friends, but each year the season turns to sorrows for some as a result of traffic crashes resulting from drinking and driving,\u201d said State Police Superintendent Joseph D\u2019Amico. \u201cWe are reminding holiday revelers to designate a driver or arrange safe transportation in advance to secure the happiness of the season for your loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year during the Holiday enforcement effort, troopers made 526 arrests for DWI, and issued a total of 35,496 tickets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Jan. 2013) The New York State Police are reminding motorists of the national impaired driving enforcement campaign called the &#8220;Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over National Crackdown,&#8221; which began Friday, Dec. 14 and will continue through New Years Day.\u00a0 More than 20,000 police agencies nationwide are expected to participate.
