<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n(Chittenango, NY – Jan. 16, 2013) Chittenango’s Head Coach Curt Kielbasa’s young grapplers continued to turn heads this past week as the Bears won back to back matches away on Tuesday by defeating Hannibal 38-37 and again at home Jan 9th nudging Syracuse ITC 37-35.<\/p>\n
Both nights the Bears trailed in points going into the final match needing a pin to win. That was the case Wednesday against ITC but Tuesday at Hannibal in the final match, all the pressure fell on the shoulders of sophomore Matt Bixby after a win by teammate Tyler Lewis, who rose to the occasion with a whopping 16-4 decision over of his opponent.<\/p>\n
That left the teams tied and the team winner had to be decided by dual meet tiebreaker criteria. After a lengthy consultation at the scorer\u2019s table, Chittenango was declared the victors based on the ninth level of criteria established for breaking a tie.<\/p>\n
Typical Tie Breaker Criteria for Dual Meets<\/p>\n
In dual-meet competition, if teams have identical scores, the following team tie-breaking system shall be used to determine the winner.<\/p>\n
1. Least number of team points deducted for flagrant or unsportsmanlike conduct.<\/p>\n
2. Greater number of matches won.<\/p>\n
3. Greater number of points for fall, defaults, forfeits or disqualifications.<\/p>\n
4. Greater number of points for technical falls.<\/p>\n
5. Greater number of points for major decisions.<\/p>\n
6. Greater number of first-points scored.<\/p>\n
7. Greater number of points for near-falls.<\/p>\n
8. Greater number of take-downs.<\/p>\n
9. Greater number of reversals.<\/p>\n
10. Greater number of escapes.<\/p>\n
11. Fewer penalties for stalling.<\/p>\n
12. Fewer stall warnings.<\/p>\n
13. Fewer number of points for other infractions.<\/p>\n
14. Flip of a disk.<\/p>\n
