He broke the Patriot League record for goals and now stands at 139, one better than the old mark of 138 set by Bucknell\u2019s Justin Zackey from 1991-94.<\/p>\n<p>Baum also climbed into Colgate\u2019s career top 10 in assists with 51. He owns 190 all-time points and is just 10 shy of the school record of 200 points set by Derek Laub from 1990-93.<\/p>\n<p>The attackman and team captain is tied for second in the conference in both points (4.67) and goals (3.00) per game.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow captain and senior defenseman James Queeney earned honorable mention notice from the Patriot League after contributing a pair of groundballs and two caused turnovers in Saturday\u2019s win. He was part of a Colgate defense that held Dartmouth scoreless for 14\u00bd minutes over the second and third quarters as the Raiders rallied from a pair of two-goal deficits.<\/p>\n<p>Queeney also limited the Big Green\u2019s Mike Olentine to zero points, one shot and three turnovers.<\/p>\n<p>Colgate, now 3-0 and off to its best start since 1993, faces its first big showdown of the season with a Saturday visit to Cornell. Start time in Ithaca is 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>BAUM SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATE:\u00a0Colgate\u2019s Peter Baum is one of 20 student-athletes selected as a candidate for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award\u00ae in collegiate men\u2019s lacrosse. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence \u2013 community, classroom, character and competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one finalist who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Lacrosse Championships in Philadelphia May 25-27. Head coach Mike Murphy\u2019s squad was 10th in both polls last week.<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders are 3-0 and off to their best start in 20 years. The last time a Colgate squad opened with at least three wins to start the season was 1993. That Raiders team went 5-0 en route to a 9-3 campaign, and the 1964 Raiders also opened 5-0 on their way to an 11-1 season.<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s Colgate opponent is Cornell, which fifth and seventh by the major polls.
