(Canastota, NY \u2013 March 2013) Hope Christian Fellowship, located at 119 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, invites the public to remember the passion and to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ during Lent, Holy Week and Eastertide observances.<\/p>\n
Every Sunday in March, attendees at HCF\u2019s 10:30 a.m. morning worship services will preview video clips of \u201cThe Bible\u201d television series airing on the History Channel Sunday evenings.<\/p>\n
This will be followed later this year by a showing of the entire 10-hour mini-series Thursday evenings at HCF; however, a small-group Bible study on the Book of Job, subtitled \u201cWrestling with God,\u201d is being held at HCF Thursday evenings in March and April at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Using a LifeGuide \u00ae from InterVarsity Press, the group is exploring why faithful people sometimes suffer.<\/p>\n
Palm Sunday, March 24, begins with a morning service at HCF, including 9:30 a.m. Sunday school, 10:15 a.m. pre-service prayer, 10:30 a.m. worship and the Word with distribution of palms (plus a children\u2019s activity during the sermon), followed by refreshments for all.<\/p>\n
An ecumenical evening service with participation from HCF and other Canastota area churches will be held at the Oneida Lake Congregational Church, 2508 State Route 31, at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
On March 29, an ecumenical Good Friday evening service with participation from HCF and other Canastota area churches will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 400 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
March 31 is Resurrection Sunday, commonly known as Easter. A special morning service will begin with 9:30 a.m. breakfast, followed by 10:15 a.m. pre-service prayer and 10:30 a.m. worship and the Word. Everyone present will receive a remembrance gift.<\/p>\n
Regular Sunday morning services at HCF will resume April 7 with 9:30 a.m. Sunday School, 10:15 a.m. pre-service prayer, 10:30 a.m. worship and the Word (plus a children\u2019s activity during the sermon), followed by refreshments for all.<\/p>\n
At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, HCF will host a preview of the annual community-wide ecumenical vacation bible school, which will be held Aug. 12 through 16. This year\u2019s program, \u201cGod\u2019s Backyard Bible Camp,\u201d is based on five Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments that teach kids to serve God by serving others.<\/p>\n
