(Morrisville, NY \u2013 April 2013) Students at Morrisville State College are rolling up their sleeves to help out on campus and in the community during a month of service which is already in progress.<\/p>\n
During the \u201cApril Month of Service,\u201d students are performing tasks and services needed by residents in neighboring areas. Events will also roll over into May.<\/p>\n
On April 29 and May 1, free oil changes for the elderly will be performed by the School of Science and Technology, from 1-5 p.m. Clients were pre-selected through the Madison County Office for the Aging.<\/p>\n
The Morrisville State College women\u2019s lacrosse team continues to take a stand against domestic violence with their fundraising campaign, \u201cReach Out, Speak Up, Plan On,\u201d which culminates on April 27 when the Mustangs take on conference opponent Wells College at 1 p.m. on Drake Field. The campaign benefits the Vera House and One Love Foundation, organizations that provide assistance to victims of domestic violence.<\/p>\n
The public is invited to \u201cDon\u2019t be a Spectator. Be a Sport,\u201d a family fun night of activities for all ages on May 2, from 6-8 p.m. in the recreation center. The event, sponsored by the human performance and health promotion program, includes child safety awareness, and physical activities such as T-ball and a soccer shoot.<\/p>\n
Additional events planned during \u201cApril Month of Service\u201d include:<\/p>\n
Yard clean-ups for the elderly<\/p>\n
April 29-blood drive from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Hamilton Hall<\/p>\n
Thursdays-volunteers assist at the Friendship Inn at St. Joan\u2019s Church in Morrisville, from 1:30-5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Mondays-volunteers assist, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with the Office for the Aging\u2019s Nutrition Program<\/p>\n
