{"id":45677,"date":"2013-05-05T08:30:58","date_gmt":"2013-05-05T12:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=45677"},"modified":"2013-05-03T14:17:15","modified_gmt":"2013-05-03T18:17:15","slug":"film-about-a-personal-investigation-of-cancer-to-be-shown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=45677","title":{"rendered":"Film about a Personal Investigation of Cancer to be shown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Submitted by Chris Brunner<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Norwich, NY \u2013 May 2013) The public is invited to the next free film showing of the current annual \u201cSecond Tuesday Film Series\u201d at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in the Founders Room at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main, Norwich.<\/p>\n<p>This screening, another educational documentary on a current issue, is titled, \u201cLiving Downstream:\u00a0 An Ecologist\u2019s Personal Investigation of Cancer and the Environment.\u201d\u00a0The film is an adaptation of the book by that name by eco-biologist, Dr. Sandra Steingraber, and follows her during one pivotal year as she travels across North America to present scientific evidence, which ultimately helps break the silence between cancer and its links to toxins in the environment.<\/p>\n<p>A cancer survivor herself, and scholar in residence at nearby Ithaca College, she is a prominent voice and leader in the grassroots anti-fracking movement in this state.<\/p>\n<p>The film series sponsors, Chenango County Peace Action and Chenango Community Action for Renewable Energy (C-CARE), offer attendees a light supper at 6:30 before the show and encourage discussion afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>Please note parking is available on the street, in the Hayes Street and County Office Building Parking lots, not in the church\u2019s lot behind it.\u00a0 For more information, please call Chris at\u00a0607-334-6095\u00a0or contact Ken at\u00a0ccare@frontier.com.\u00a0 Suggestions for future films and topics to explore are welcome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted by Chris Brunner (Norwich, NY \u2013 May 2013) The public is invited to the next free film showing of the current annual \u201cSecond Tuesday Film Series\u201d at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in the Founders Room at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main, Norwich.
