To the Editor:<\/p>\n
(Canastota, NY \u2013 May 2013) As many of you are aware, the Canastota School Board Election is rapidly approaching, May 21st.\u00a0 I wanted to take this time to share with the readers a little bit about myself and formally introduce myself as a candidate for a position on the board.<\/p>\n
My name is Loran Crosby.\u00a0 I was born and raised in the Canastota district.\u00a0\u00a0 I graduated from CHS in 1997, and went on to pursue studies at Syracuse University.\u00a0 After graduating from Syracuse, I settled back in to the Canastota area where I married my wife, Jill Green, also a Canastota alum.\u00a0 We have two beautiful boys Carter and Mason, who are quickly approaching school age.<\/p>\n
I work as a research analyst for an IT consulting firm, where I spend my day addressing business issues and helping to implement business intelligence strategies for companies like IBM and AT&T.\u00a0\u00a0 Outside the office is where my greatest job begins, my family.\u00a0 Whether it be chasing my boys around the house, tackling the never-ending pile of laundry, or enjoying Sunday pasta with the family, being a dad and husband is my greatest accomplishment.<\/p>\n
I approach this position on the school board with an open mind and eagerness to do what is best for the youth and education system in our community.\u00a0 I pride myself on being an honest and approachable individual.\u00a0 I am always willing to lend an ear and listen to the concerns of those around me.\u00a0 I look forward to challenges and stand strong when faced with adversity. \u00a0\u00a0I am dedicated to the tasks that I am presented, and committed to seeing things through until the end.<\/p>\n
When asked about my position or stand on running, I think it is quite simple.\u00a0 In my life I have been blessed to travel the world and see many interesting things.\u00a0\u00a0 But more impressive than the sites I have seen, is the power of community.\u00a0 I love being part of a small town and cherish being part of a tight-knit community.\u00a0\u00a0 My approach to this opportunity is to bring a fresh and open-mind.\u00a0 I come to you with no objectives other than to serve the community and look out for what is best for our children.<\/p>\n
My main focus is to see that my children, and all the others in this community are presented with the same opportunities I was afforded walking the halls of CHS.\u00a0 Regardless of what our children choose to do after high school, I want to make sure that they are prepared.\u00a0 Whether they choose to enter the work-force immediately after graduation or look to continue their education, I want to be sure that they possess the needed skills to help them succeed.<\/p>\n
I look forward to this opportunity and thank you for your time and consideration.\u00a0 Please be sure to exercise your vote and make it to the polls on May 21st.<\/p>\n
