(Cazenovia, NY \u2013 May 2013) Cazenovia High School is one of 10 schools in Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES included in Newsweek\u2019s list of America’s Best High Schools for 2013, released May 6.<\/p>\n
Compiled by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, the list highlights the 2,000 public high schools in the nation that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready graduates.<\/p>\n
Cazenovia ranked 903, the third-highest out of all OCM BOCES schools, behind Fayetteville-Manlius at 606 and Jamesville-DeWitt at 561.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s gratifying for the rest of the nation to see what we\u2019ve known all along here at home,\u201d Superintendent Robert Dubik said. \u201cThat a Cazenovia High School diploma is a ticket to limitless possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Using data collected in a survey of more than 2,500 schools, the news organizations based the list on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT\/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP\/IB scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP\/IB course (5 percent).<\/p>\n
