Pedersen, age 13 from Sylvan Beach was visiting a friend&#8217;s house when he decided to drive his\u00a0bicycle home. At approximately 8:39 p.m. he was operating the bike southbound on the shoulder of Vienna Road when he was struck by a southbound\u00a0Chevy pick-up truck operated by\u00a0Gary P. Svecz, age 53, from 351 Deleware St. Forest City, Pa.<\/p>\n<p>Pedersen was ejected off the bike and ended up on a walking trail located on the west side of Vienna Road.<\/p>\n<p>Svecz left the scene and was pulled over\u00a0by a volunteer fireman a short distance from the accident.<br \/>\nPederson was transported to Oneida City Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n<p>Svecz was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and second-degree Vehicular Manslaughter and was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash \/ $200,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p>He is scheduled to return to the Town of Floyd Court on June 4 at 4 p.m. for a felony hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Sylvan Beach, NY &#8211; May 30, 2013)\u00a0 State Police in Sylvan Beach are investigating a fatal bicycle crash that occurred, Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 8:39 p.m. on Vienna Road in the Village of Sylvan Beach, Oneida County.
