{"id":47868,"date":"2013-07-01T15:00:05","date_gmt":"2013-07-01T19:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=47868"},"modified":"2013-07-01T09:39:11","modified_gmt":"2013-07-01T13:39:11","slug":"michael-kelly-named-grand-marshall-of-uticas-holiday-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=47868","title":{"rendered":"Michael Kelly Named Grand Marshall of Utica\u2019s Holiday Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/fireworks.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-743\" alt=\"fireworks\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/fireworks.jpg?resize=226%2C170\" width=\"226\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a>(Utica, NY \u2013 July 2013) Organizers of the City of Utica\u2019s Fourth of July Celebration held a press conference to announce the holiday\u2019s schedule of events and introduce Grand Marshall Michael Kelly, a cystic fibrosis patient whose wish is to be part of a parade.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Kelly was born with\u00a0Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0has been developing a bucket list which\u00a0has grown in just a few days to more than 200 items. It includes some things that are easily attainable.\u00a0 A couple of the items on the list were to be in a parade and to meet the Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>The organizers of the City of Utica July 4th\u00a0Parade are going one step further and naming Michael\u00a0 Kelly\u00a0Grand Marshal.\u00a0 Michael also got to sit in the Mayor\u2019s chair while waiting for the news conference and then meet with the mayor personally.<\/p>\n<p>On July 4th\u00a0He will ride at the head of the parade in the UPD antique patrol car and then brought to the stage in FT Proctor Park where he will welcome the crowd to this year\u2019s celebration along with the Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>The parade will kick off at\u00a06 p.m. from the intersection of Sherman Drive and Culver Avenue.\u00a0 Entertainment will be provided in FT Proctor Park from\u00a05 PM until 10 PM.\u00a0 Food and beverages will also be made available by local vendors.\u00a0 The festivities will conclude with a traditional fireworks display.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to join Michel in the parade you need to register by\u00a0Tuesday, July 2.\u00a0 For more information email your request to\u00a0events@cityofutica.com.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Utica, NY \u2013 July 2013) Organizers of the City of Utica\u2019s Fourth of July Celebration held a press conference to announce the holiday\u2019s schedule of events and introduce Grand Marshall Michael Kelly, a cystic fibrosis patient whose wish is to be part of a parade.
