{"id":48778,"date":"2013-08-02T09:38:32","date_gmt":"2013-08-02T13:38:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=48778"},"modified":"2013-08-02T09:38:42","modified_gmt":"2013-08-02T13:38:42","slug":"sheriffs-deputies-investigation-wednesdays-fatal-motor-vehicle-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=48778","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff\u2019s Deputies Investigating Wednesday\u2019s Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Submitted by John Ball, Madison County Undersheriff<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Town of Eaton, NY- Aug. 1, 2013) Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies we<a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Mad-Co-Sheriffs-Dept.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-41578\" alt=\"Mad Co Sheriff's Dept\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Mad-Co-Sheriffs-Dept-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>re dispatched to the scene of a vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the intersection of State Route 46 and Canal Road in the Madison County Town of Eaton.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle was spotted by a passerby in a group of trees and then reported to the Madison County 911 Center.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation is ongoing but what is known at this time is that a male driver in his mid-50\u2019s was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Preliminary scene investigation determined that the vehicle was heading in a westerly direction on Canal Road, crossed State Route 46, and entered an area of trees, coming to rest about 60 feet off the road.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Eaton Fire\/Rescue and was transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Syracuse for autopsy.<\/p>\n<p>The victim has not been positively identified, but based on documents found at the scene, was from the Philadelphia, Pa. area.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Deputies and Eaton Fire\/Rescue personnel, the Madison County Coroner and Sheriff Allen Riley responded to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>A final update will be issued when the investigation is complete and the victim is positively identified.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitted by John Ball, Madison County Undersheriff (Town of Eaton, NY- Aug. 1, 2013) Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the intersection of State Route 46 and Canal Road in the Madison County Town of Eaton.
