The old-fashioned bulbs frequently burn out, skewing the scores and time.

The board at Burton Street, meanwhile, is about 10 years old and employs a system of flipping panels that often jam and for which replacement parts are no longer available.

The new scoreboards, by contrast, feature LED lighting and handheld, wireless consoles.

“The LED lighting is huge – no blown bulbs!” said Athletic Director J. Michael Byrnes. “Thanks to this major donation from the CAA, we’ll now have high-quality scoreboards that the community can be proud of for years to come.”

Cazenovia plays all varsity soccer games and varsity lacrosse games on Field 1 and all varsity, junior varsity and modified field hockey games on the athletic field at Burton Street Elementary.

“I would like to thank the officers and entire membership of the CAA for continuing to make Cazenovia Central Schools such a special place for our children to learn – both inside and outside the classroom,” Superintendent of Schools Robert S.
