Zecca, director of Madison County\u2019s Solid Waste Department, issued a statement in response to reports that Upstate Labs entered a guilty plea to charges that it backdated QA\/QC reports for analytical reports issued to 31 clients including the Department of Solid Waste.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMadison County became aware of a problem with Upstate Labs when the New York State Department of Health pulled the lab\u2019s ELAP certification in February of 2013,\u201d Zecca said. \u201cThe County immediately terminated its contract with Upstate Labs and retained another certified laboratory to conduct its routine testing. While we cannot be certain that Upstate\u2019s laboratory reports were accurate, we do note that the data collected in the past is consistent with the data we have received from the certified labs that we are currently using.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Madison County Department of Solid Waste provides a comprehensive system of solid waste management and recycling facilities serving the citizens of Madison County.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call Zecca at 315-361-8408.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Wampsville, NY \u2013 Aug. 2013) James A.
