(Aug. 2013) New York residents and businesses affected by severe storms and flooding between June 26 and July 5 can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, SBA Administrator Karen G. Mills announced today.<\/p>\n
Administrator Mills made the loans available in response to a letter from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on\u00a0July 25, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA.\u00a0 The declaration covers Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery and Oneida counties and the adjacent counties of Chenango, Cortland, Fulton, Hamilton, Lewis, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, Saint Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie in New York.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe SBA is strongly committed to providing the people of New York with the most effective and customer-focused response possible to assist homeowners, renters, and businesses of all sizes with federal disaster loans,\u201d said Administrator Mills.\u00a0 \u201cGetting businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLoans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate.\u00a0\u00a0 Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property,\u201d said Frank Skaggs, director of SBA\u2019s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta.\u00a0 SBA\u2019s customer service representatives are available at the Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to answer questions about the disaster loan program and help individuals complete their applications.<\/p>\n

Loan applications can also be downloaded at www.sba.gov\/disaster<\/a>.
