{"id":49085,"date":"2013-08-13T07:30:28","date_gmt":"2013-08-13T11:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=49085"},"modified":"2013-08-11T13:35:42","modified_gmt":"2013-08-11T17:35:42","slug":"trost-to-serve-as-fblas-state-vice-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=49085","title":{"rendered":"Trost to Serve as FBLA\u2019s State Vice President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Canastota, NY \u2013 Aug. 2013) Canastota High School FBLA student, Derick Trost, recently completed his mandatory Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Officer Training in Greenwich, NY held from July 21 to 26. Trost will serve as the State Vice President for District 7.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>District 7 includes Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties.<\/p>\n<p>Trost was elected to his position last April in Rochester at the New York State FBLA Leadership Conference. \u00a0During State Officer Training, he worked vigorously with the entire State Officer Team to accomplish their requirements for the week. Together the officers worked on the New York State theme, charity and program of work for the year.\u00a0 During the week, officers gave speeches and presentations and attended leadership workshops on topics such as Plan of Action, Business Communications, Accountability, Public Speaking and Effective Presentations, Parliamentary Procedure and other leadership related topics.<\/p>\n<p>New this year, a joint meeting was held with representatives from other Career and Technical Student Leadership Organizations, where state officers from other groups discussed their common goals and direction for the future.<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 1, Trost will coordinate the Fall District Meeting for District 7 to be hosted by the Utica School of Commerce in Utica.\u00a0 More than 200 area members generally attend that meeting.\u00a0 The 2013-2014 New York State FBLA theme is \u201cCelebrating 50 Years of Excellence.\u201d\u00a0 This year marks New York State\u2019s 50th anniversary as a state association.\u00a0 The officers also voted to support the March of Dimes as their state charity.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DERICK.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-49086\" alt=\"DERICK\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DERICK.jpg\" width=\"226\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DERICK.jpg 226w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/DERICK-128x150.jpg 128w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Future Business Leaders of America is a non-profit nationwide high school organization. New York State alone has over 4,000 members.
