(Aurora, NY \u2013 Aug. 31, 2013) The Morrisville State College field hocke\"Morrisville<\/a>y team battled to a 1-1 tie after regulation and was unable to hold on as a costly foul within the circle in the extra period led to the game winning tally by Wells\u00a0Saturday afternoon in Aurora.<\/p>\n

Ilze Stots (Clinton Corners, N.Y.)\u00a0notched the Mustangs lone score nearly 14 minutes into the contest, collecting a rebound shot off Wells keeper Sydney Line, and firing it into the boards for the 1-0 Morrisville State lead.<\/p>\n

Minutes later, the Express had a second chance opportunity as a blocked shot landed on the stick of a Wells forward, who crossed it to Marina Fargnoli for the sweeping game tying score.<\/p>\n

Morrisville State picked up the intensity in the second half and had plenty of opportunities to post another tally, but Line made four crucial saves in the final 35 for Wells to force the overtime period.<\/p>\n

Wells dominated the extra frame early on, forced two quick penalty corner opportunities and three shots, before forcing a critical defensive foul within the circle that awarded them another corner opportunity.<\/p>\n

Express Shianne Stokes received the corner feed, fired a shot at goal, and Courtney Bastian was able to get the tip past Morrisville State goalie\u00a0Nicole Gregg (Whitney Point, N.Y.)\u00a0for the game winning tally\u00a03:55\u00a0into the sudden victory period.<\/p>\n

Gregg made six saves between the pipes for the Mustangs, recording the loss.<\/p>\n

Morrisville State returns to the field\u00a0Friday, hosting Utica College at\u00a07 p.m.\u00a0on Drake Field.<\/p>\n
