Furney will come to the Oneida Public Library\u00a0Saturday, Oct. 5 at\u00a01 p.m.\u00a0to give a retrospective of his life and writings, including his autobiographies \u201cUncertain Roads\u201d (2009) and \u201cThe Road Back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUncertain Roads\u201d recounts his early life, when he became homeless at the age of 10 and began a vagabond\u2019s life, including enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces and imprisonment for theft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Road Back\u201d follows Furney\u2019s life afterward as he starts up his own business, marries and starts a family.<\/p>\n<p>His recent work is an illustrated series called \u201cUnsung Heroes on the Backroads of America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For further information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call 363-3050.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Oneida, NY \u2013 Oct. 2013) James W.
