Valesky (D-Oneida) has been named to the New\u00a0York Farm Bureau\u2019s 2013 Circle of Friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York\u2019s farms are a critical component in the state\u2019s economy,\u00a0especially in Upstate New York,\u201d said Senator Valesky. \u201cAgriculture is our\u00a0largest industry and has incredible growth potential as we are seeing with\u00a0the Greek yogurt boom; we need to continue to support the industry through\u00a0a strong legislative agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Valesky has sponsored and passed legislation to better market and utilize<br \/>\nlocally grown foods in restaurants and senior centers, to expand the craft<br \/>\nbeer and wine industries, and lowering energy costs for local farms and<br \/>\nagricultural businesses. He also serves as a member of the Senate<br \/>\nAgriculture Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Each year the New York State Farm Bureau announces the legislators who,<br \/>\nthrough their voting record and sponsorship of legislation, have supported<br \/>\nNew York\u2019s agricultural business. The New York Farm Bureau is the state\u2019s<br \/>\nlargest trade organization and works to support New York agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe selected lawmakers were chosen for their commitment to the hard<br \/>\nworking farm families in New York.
