Many areas rely heavily on the Red Kettle Campaign to operate their programs at Christmas and throughout the year and between 40 and 50 percent of all public support for The Salvation Army comes during the critical holiday season.<\/p>\n<p><b>Poverty Facts<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the U.S. Census Bureau, one in seven Americans \u2013 and nearly one-in-four Americans under the age of 18 \u2013 live below the poverty line.
