Oneida Native Paired with Elderly Companion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oneida Native\u00a0Lauren O’Neil is building intergenerational relationships by adopting an elderly match through Project Generations, a weekly visiting service organized by Ithaca College and Tompkins County Office for the Aging.<\/p>\n

The mission of Project Generations is to enrich older adults’ and volunteers’ lives by bridging the gap between the generations. Volunteers help fulfill seniors’ needs through providing companionship, mental stimulation, and social support. By pairing elders with Ithaca College student volunteers Project Generations aims to reduce the social stigma and recognize older adults’ value as community members with rich life experiences to share.<\/p>\n

Yacavone awarded a scholarship at Denison University<\/strong><\/p>\n

Benjamin Yacavone\u00a0of Hamilton was awarded a scholarship at Denison University. Yacavone, a member of the class of 2017, received a Denison Alumni Award. The Denison Alumni Award is based on academic achievement, leadership and personal merit<\/p>\n

Yagoda of Oneida Receives Scholarship at Clarkson University<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan D. Yagoda\u00a0of Oneida, a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics at Clarkson University, received the Crane Fund for Widows and Children Sponsored Scholarship during the 2013-2014 academic year.<\/p>\n

Beaver of Sherburne Named to SUNY Delhi Women’s Basketball Team<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cassandra Beaver of Sherburne is a participating member of the SUNY Delhi Women’s Basketball Team. Beaver is pursuing\u00a0an associate’s\u00a0degree in Veterinary Science Technology at Delhi.<\/p>\n

Local Students Inducted into English Honorary Society<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following students have been inducted into the Irving Bacheller Society, the English Department’s honorary society at St. Lawrence University in Canton.<\/p>\n

Danielle M. Capirci\u00a0of Hamilton is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in English. Capirci graduated from Hamilton Central School.<\/p>\n

Hannah C. Chanatry\u00a0of Cazenovia is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in English and performance and communications arts. Chanatry graduated from Cazenovia High School.<\/p>\n

To be eligible for membership, students must have either completed four English courses and maintained a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) in English or completed six English courses with at least a 3.25 GPA in English and a 3.0 GPA overall.<\/p>\n

Klish part of Greek life at Heidelberg University<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daniel Klish\u00a0of Canastota, a sophomore majoring in Sport Management, is a member of Rho Eta Delta, one of five fraternities at Heidelberg University.<\/p>\n

Colgate Honors First-Year Students<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following student from the Colgate University Class of 2016 has been inducted into the Colgate chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national scholastic honorary society that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of first-year students.<\/p>\n

The approximately 167 students who received the prestigious distinction for having earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2011-2012 academic year were honored at a fall banquet.<\/p>\n

Currently a sophomore at Colgate,\u00a0Andrew Thompson, is a graduate of Hamilton Central School\u00a0in\u00a0Hamilton.<\/p>\n
