Phillips took evasive actions but could not avoid the collision.<br \/>\nBoth occupants of the Nissan were transported from the scene and MEDAVAC by Life Net to Upstate with massive head trauma.<\/p>\n<p>The 2 year-old passenger was later pronounced deceased at 8:48 p.m. at Upstate Medical, Johnson remains in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>Phillips was treated and released at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Carthage, NY \u2013 Dec. 14 2013)\u00a0On Dec. 13 at approximately 7:20 p.m. State Police in Carthage responded to a two car serious personal injury accident that occurred on County Route 45 in the Town of Champion, Jefferson County.
