(Morrisville, NY \u2013 Jan. 25, 2014) \u00a0Host Morrisville State College men\u2019s hockey scored four in the second period, including two off the stick of Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, ON), to hand the visiting SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles a 6-3 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) defeat\u00a0Saturday\u00a0night in Morrisville.<\/p>\n

Morrisville State improves to 5-11-2 overall, remaining tied for seventh place in SUNYAC standings with a 2-7-1 conference mark. Brockport, also tied for seventh in the conference, fall to 5-9-3 overall, 2-5-1 in SUNYAC play.<\/p>\n

John Doyle (New Lowell, ON) was first to notch one on the night, posting a score for the Mustangs\u00a015:07\u00a0into the first period. Brockport quickly responded with their own goal minutes later, evening the contest at one.<\/p>\n

In the second, Carvalho regained the one goal advantage for the Mustangs with a power play score just\u00a01:06\u00a0in, and Rob Molinaro (Yonkers, N.Y.) added another nearly two minutes later for a 3-1 Morrisville State advantage.<\/p>\n

Brockport\u2019s Chase Nieuwendyk cut the lead to one for the Golden Eagles with a power play tally at\u00a05:27, but Morrisville State\u2019s Zach Baker (Denver, Colo.) buried the five-hole score from the left corner to regain the two goal lead for the Mustangs.<\/p>\n

Carvalho added his second of the period at\u00a015:37, one-timing the feed from Marc-Antoine Chaput (Mascouche, QE) and Dan Morello (Vaughan, ON) for the power play score and 5-2 lead.<\/p>\n

Chaput had three assists on the night, while teammates Joe Santino (Woodbridge, ON) and Darren Young (Woodstock, ON) recorded two each.<\/p>\n

Brockport posted a power play score\u00a03:28\u00a0into the final frame, but after pulling the goaltender for an extra skater, the Golden Eagles were beat to the loose puck and Zach Bayer (Glendale, Az.) buried the empty netter to secure the win for the Mustangs.<\/p>\n

Jakob Rasmussen (Vallentuna, SE) had 35 saves in the win for Morrisville State between the pipes, including 15 in the opening period and 10 each in the final two frames.<\/p>\n

Aaron Green started the game in net and registered five saves before being pulled after the Mustangs third goal on the night, and being replaced by Jared Lockhurst who recorded the loss, allowing two goals and making 15 stops.<\/p>\n

Morrisville State hits the road next weekend, traveling to Fredonia State for two crucial contests with the Blue Devils, who currently sit in sixth in the conference rankings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
