{"id":53650,"date":"2014-02-17T10:00:18","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T15:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=53650"},"modified":"2014-02-15T12:01:07","modified_gmt":"2014-02-15T17:01:07","slug":"connecting-with-kids-workshop-discusses-creating-healthy-child-athletes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=53650","title":{"rendered":"Connecting with Kids Workshop Discusses \u2018Creating Healthy Child Athletes\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Madison County, Herkimer, NY \u2013 Feb. 2014) Cornell Cooperative Extension Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties presents a Connecting With Kids Workshop, \u201cCreating Healthy Child Athletes: Body, Mind &amp; Spirit.&#8221; \u00a0The first session of this two part event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. p.m. at the Herkimer County Community College Auditorium in the Robert McLaughlin College Center, Reservoir Road in Herkimer.\u00a0 This program is free to participants.<\/p>\n<p>Kids should have at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day.\u00a0 Knowing how to maximize a young persons\u2019 enthusiasm for physical activity will help create healthier youth as well as help you be a better coach.\u00a0 Learn how to motivate our young people to want to be more involved in sports and physical activity.<\/p>\n<p>How can we support our youth in ways that promote\u00a0positive risk-taking, resilience, and achievement?\u00a0Why do adolescents take so many risks anyway? What can communities, families, and friends do to help keep them safe, happy, and productive?<\/p>\n<p>Our keynote speakers, Nigel Gannon and Dan Stalteri will share their ideas and research on how to Create Healthy Child Athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Please register by Tuesday, Feb. 25.<\/p>\n<p>You may call the CCE Herkimer County office with your registration at (315) 866-7920 or register online at <a href=\"https:\/\/reg.cce.cornell.edu\/FebruaryConnectingWithKids_221\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/reg.cce.cornell.edu\/FebruaryConnectingWithKids_221<\/a> \u00a0or email your information to herkimer@cornell.edu.
