Canastota receives third place honors as Chapter of the Year<\/p>\n

(Canastota, NY \u2013 May 2014) From April 9 to 11, nearly 600 members of the Future Business Leaders of America gathered at Rochester\u2019s Riverside Convention Center for their annual State Leadership Conference.\u00a0 Canastota High School\u2019s Chapter of FBLA sent 12 members to the conference.<\/p>\n

Throughout the three-day event, more than 20 students from New York State FBLA campaigned and gave speeches in an effort to seek positions available on the incoming state officer team.\u00a0\u00a0 Student candidates were required to give speeches, caucus, and answer any questions of the voting delegation.<\/p>\n

Canastota junior, Derick Trost, was elected to serve as next year\u2019s New York State President In this capacity, Derick will be responsible for coordinating all of the activities of the state which includes 15 districts.\u00a0 Derick will serve over a state officer team of 17 individuals who were elected or appointed into their various positions during the conference.<\/p>\n

At the conference, the Canastota Chapter was recognized as one of the top five outstanding chapters in the state \u2013 receiving third place recognition for their efforts during the year.\u00a0 New York State FBLA is composed of nearly 5000 members in 170 chapters.\u00a0\u00a0 The Canastota Chapter did well during the conference receiving the following awards:<\/p>\n

Entrepreneurship \u2013 Hafeezah Lewis and Ariel Orcutt \u2013 5th Place<\/p>\n

FBLA Principles and Procedures \u2013 Nichole Delaney \u2013 9th Place<\/p>\n

FBLA Principles and Procedures \u2013 Julia DiVeronica \u2013 10th Place<\/p>\n

Impromptu Speaking \u2013 Derick Trost \u2013 8th Place<\/p>\n

Insurance and Risk Management \u2013 Shannon Nirelli \u2013 10th Place<\/p>\n

Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure \u2013 Julia DiVeronica \u2013 3rd Place<\/p>\n

Local Chapter Annual Report \u2013 2nd Place<\/p>\n

Website Design \u2013 Jacob Smith \u2013 5th Place<\/p>\n

Canastota members are looking forward to attending the National Leadership Conference being held this June in Nashville, TN\u00a0 Fundraising activities are being planned to raise funds for this trip.<\/p>\n
