The Mustangs are an affiliate member of the conference for football.<\/p>\n<p>Morrisville State sophomore\u00a0Tyler Meyers (Central Square, N.Y.)\u00a0and senior\u00a0Juan Rios (Grahamsville, N.Y.)\u00a0were among a record number 791 total student-athletes conference wide to receive academic accolades from the conference office.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the squad, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior who has competed in a conference-sponsored sport while achieving a minimum grade point average of 3.20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe academic success of our athletes is one of the main components to the mission of our program,\u201d said head coachCurt Fitzpatrick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth Juan and Tyler are great examples of what student-athletes should be, with their success in the classroom and the campus community, as well as on the field,\u201d Fitzpatrick continued.\u00a0\u201cOur staff is very proud of their recognition and we are looking forward to having more Mustangs on the all-academic team in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/MeyersT13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-56895\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/MeyersT13.jpg\" alt=\"MeyersT13\" width=\"225\" height=\"371\" \/><\/a>\u00a0Meyers appeared in three games for the Mustangs this past season at linebacker and on special teams, registering an assisted tackle.<\/p>\n<p>The landscape architecture studies major at Morrisville State is a graduate of Paul V. Moore High and is the son of Valerie and Mark Meyers of Central Square.<\/p>\n<p>Rios, place kicker for Morrisville State appeared in five games this season, converting two field goals and 16 extra points.
