\"Mary<\/a>The All Breeds 4-H Junior Champion in the Dairy Cattle Show was awarded to Kristi Gallagher, Sangerfield for her Guernsey champion.\u00a0 The award was sponsored and given by Mary Burkert, Waterville.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Abigail<\/a>Richard Englebrecht presented the Englebrecht trophy to Abigail Wratten, Oriskany Falls for her participation in multiple dairy competitions including showing cattle, dairy judging, and dairy challenge contest.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Haley<\/a>Exhibiting the grand champion swine at the Boonville Fair was Haley Cranwell, Eaton.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Eli<\/a>Receiving the first annual Elijah Dibble Memorial 4-H Award was Joshua vanLieshout, Verona.\u00a0 The award was presented by Elijah\u2019s father Richard Dibble.<\/em><\/p>\n

(Boonville, NY \u2013 Aug. 2014) For many 4-H youth the county fair is what they work towards all year.\u00a0 Whether they are training an animal to participate in a show or constructing a woodworking project, 4-H youth look forward to the county fair.\u00a0 This year over 200 Oneida County 4-H youth exhibited projects at the Boonville Oneida County Fair.<\/p>\n

For 4-Hers the fair actually began on Thursday, July 17 when many of their projects were judged at the Extension Office in Oriskany.\u00a0 Youth were able to bring projects such as photography, baked goods, sewing, crafts, horticulture, and much more to be judged by professionals in the field.<\/p>\n

Then on Sunday, July 20 the animal shows began with the 4-H Dog Show.\u00a0 Many Oneida County 4-H youth qualified for the New York State Fair at this event so be watching for them there.<\/p>\n

On Monday, July 21 the day began with the 4-H Poultry Show followed by the 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Show.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, July 22 was the 4-H Swine Show followed by the 4-H Dairy Junior Calves Show and the 4-H English Horse Show on Wednesday, July 23.<\/p>\n

Thursday the day began with the 4-H Western Horse Show and the Livestock Skillathon and Dairy Challenge Contest which was followed by the 4-H and Open Class Sheep Show.<\/p>\n

Friday, July 25 was the 4-H and Open Class Dairy Show, the 4-H Gymkhana Horse Show followed by the Barnyard Olympics and Minute to Win It games.<\/p>\n

The Open Class and 4-H Goat show rounded out the week of shows at Boonville on Saturday, July 26 followed by the Supreme Showmanship Contest, the 4-H Parade of Champions and the 4-H Dance and Karaoke Fun Night.<\/p>\n

The county fair ended for 4-H youth with a Sunday morning church service led by Rev. Richard Dibble.<\/p>\n

Many awards were given for various events throughout the week at the Dairy & Livestock dinner.\u00a0 The Richard Englebrecht trophy was awarded to Abigail Wratten, Oriskany Falls.<\/p>\n

Mary Burkert sponsored the award for 4-H Junior Champion in memory of her son Kenny Burkert, Jr.\u00a0 This award was given to Kristi Gallagher, Sangerfield, for her Guernsey calf.<\/p>\n

The herdsmanship awards were given to the vanLieshout family for cattle, the Cranwell family for swine, the Williams family for sheep, and the vanLieshout family for goats.<\/p>\n

The 4-H Clover award, an award voted on by their 4-H peers for good character, sportsmanship, and willingness to help others was awarded to Stephanie Finn, Holland Patent and Jill Brennan, Sauquoit.<\/p>\n

A new award, the Elijah Dibble memorial 4-H Award, was presented to Josh vanLieshout.<\/p>\n
