(Syracuse, NY \u2013 Aug. 2014) Here in Central New York, we have the benefit of being right next door to The Great New York State Fair, which brings a wide variety of attractions and events for the entire family and showcases the best products our state has to offer. This year, consider taking advantage of Special Fair Days that can enhance your experience at the fair and even save you money.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s not only cotton candy and prizes for kids to enjoy at the fair \u2013 there\u2019s something for everyone.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0Wednesday, Aug. 27 you\u2019ll find entertainment celebrating the women in your family as the fair hosts its 2014 Women\u2019s Day. There will be art and culinary competitions, a gathering of women\u2019s advocacy groups, and many other special events.<\/p>\n

The men and women who are currently serving or who have served our country can also take part in the fun, at a reduced price. On its Veteran\u2019s Day,\u00a0Thursday Aug. 28, the fair will recognize our heroes in uniform by offering free admission to all active-duty military personnel and, of course, veterans. Those eligible for the discount should be sure to bring proper identification to show at the ticket booth, such as a military ID, discharge papers, a Veteran\u2019s Administration ID or a New York State driver\u2019s license with the \u201cVeteran\u201d designation printed on it.<\/p>\n

Finally, as the fair winds down, it\u2019s important to make sure that everyone gets the chance to experience all there is to see before the season ends. On\u00a0Sept. 1, there will be a Summer Send Off \u201cDollar Day,\u201d with adult admission and all midway rides discounted to $1. It\u2019s the perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family for last-minute fun as we celebrate Labor Day and the end of warmer weather.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s your first time at the fair or your hundredth, you\u2019ll be sure to find something new to see this year. The Great New York State Fair is open through\u00a0Sept. 1, and I encourage all of you to enjoy the Special Fair Days that are offered so you can get the most out of your fair experience.<\/p>\n
