(New Woodstock, NY \u2013 Sept. 2014) An exhibit of art by Jen Gandee, Lucie Wellner and Magdeleine Wellner will be at the New Woodstock Free Library from Sept. 4 through Sept. 30.\u00a0 The exhibit includes ceramics.\u00a0 A reception for the artists will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. \u00a0\u00a0The reception is free and open to the public.\u00a0 The exhibit is open during all regular library hours.<\/p>\n

The three-artist exhibit follows the library\u2019s 75th<\/sup> anniversary show, which ends August 29.<\/p>\n

Jen Gandee owns the Gandee Gallery in Fabius, which features fine art and hand crafted objects from regionally and nationally recognized artists, with a special emphasis on ceramics. Jen earned her MFA at Syracuse University and has been an active ceramic artist her entire adult life. Her work is inspired by historical art pieces and folk art traditions. Although these sources allow her to access the past, her work is firmly anchored in the present. In addition to being a member of the Independent Potter\u2019s Association, Jen also devotes her time to teaching nationally and locally, including at her well-equipped studio in Fabius, where more of Jen\u2019s work can be viewed.<\/p>\n

Lucie Wellner is a central New York State artist who has been painting using watercolors since 1997. Her formal training is in Surface Pattern design, which led to 15 years of designing dinnerware. She was raised and still lives in a part of the state that has an abundance of rolling hills, dairy farms, woods, fields, wildflowers and trees; their presence influences her daily life and painting. Lucie\u2019s work, prints and greeting cards can be found in several local galleries and shops, including the Gandee Gallery, Old and Everlasting, Imagine, and Eureka.<\/p>\n

Magdeleine Wellner, in addition to devoting her life to educating children at a Montessori preschool, has been making jewelry and wall art ever since she laid her hands on an enameling kiln in the sixties. Over the years she has experimented with combining materials to create artwork out of beads, enamelware, glass, silver, and wood. Her inspiration comes from the desire to try something new and put objects and beautiful colors together. The current\u00a0exhibit\u00a0includes three-dimensional enamel pieces as well as intricate glass bead weaving jewelry.<\/p>\n

The library is open Monday-Friday 1-5 pm, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm, and Saturdays from 10-1 pm. \u00a0\u00a0The library is also open when the blue library flag is displayed.<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s story hour is held every Tuesday at 11 a.m.\u00a0 Family movie night is held the third Friday of every month.\u00a0\u00a0 The movies begin at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
