Oct. 16 (Thursday), 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia<\/p>\n

Oct. 17 (Friday), 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Health Department, 138 N. Court St., Bldg. 5, Wampsville<\/p>\n

Oct. 20 (Monday), 3:30 to 7 p.m., DeRuyter School, 711 Railroad St., DeRuyter<\/p>\n

Oct. 21 (Tuesday), 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Cornell Cooperative Extension, 100 Eaton St., Morrisville<\/p>\n

Oct. 24 (Friday), 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Health Department, 138 N. Court St., Bldg. 5, Wampsville<\/p>\n

Oct. 28 (Tuesday), 9 to 11 a.m., Town of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department, Chittenango<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s important for everyone age 6 months and older to get the flu vaccine, it\u2019s especially important for pregnant women, children younger than 5 years, adults 65 and older, and those with chronic health conditions such as cancer, asthma, diabetes, or heart disease to get vaccinated each year because they are more at risk for developing flu-related complications.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we think about how easily germs spread, especially among children, then it\u2019s easy to understand why getting vaccinated against the flu is the best way to protect you and your family from flu now until the Spring,\u201d said Cheryl Geiler, Director of Community Health at Madison County Health Department. \u201cYour flu vaccine protects others and others\u2019 flu vaccine protects you\u201d.<\/p>\n

Flu vaccinations are available by appointment beginning in October. Make an appointment online anytime, 24-hours a day, at www.healthymadisoncounty.org <\/a>or call our Flu Schedulers at 315-366-2848 to make an appointment.<\/p>\n

The flu vaccine is recommended for you and anyone 6 months of age or older. As an alternative to the flu shot, the FluMist or nasal spray vaccine is available as a choice for ages 2 years through age 49 years. This year the Centers for Disease Control encourage the use of FluMist for healthy children age 2 through 8 years with their first flu dose to optimize their immune response.<\/p>\n

Payment accepted for vaccines includes: Medicare, Medicaid, selected insurance plans, cash, check or credit card.\u00a0The flu vaccination is $40 and is billable to some insurance plans. Bring your insurance card as coverage will depend on your individual plan. Some fees such as co-pays and deductibles may still apply. For eligible children age 18 and younger, the vaccine may be provided at or below cost and only an administration fee will be charged.<\/p>\n
