(Brookfield, NY \u2013 Oct. 2014) A busy 2014 Show Season for the Brookfield Riding & Driving Association will conclude the\u00a0season with its fourth and final pointed show:\u00a0the\u00a0Oct. 18\u00a0\u201cHalloween\u201d Show at the Madison County Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n

This show will include a special Costume Class (in hand) with cash prizes being awarded. \u00a0The beginner friendly\u00a0(for both horse and rider) shows include two youth divisions (“Youth 11 and under” and\u00a0separate “12 to 17 youth”);\u00a0 “Special” Equitation and Over Fence classes for those in only their first or second year of walk, trot and canter; numerous walk\/trot only classes; and Breed Divisions for Thoroughbreds (Jockey Club pointed) and NYS Standardred Associations.<\/p>\n

The final club event of the season will be the\u00a0by high point awards at the\u00a0Nov. 9\u00a0Annual Dinner.\u00a0 Riders who have participated in three out of the four Open Shows will be eligible for awards.<\/p>\n

Other events in our Fall show and events card included:<\/p>\n

\"OLYMPUS<\/a>Aug. 30 \u2013 Dressage Schooling Show.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Excellent weather and\u00a0a good turnout for an informal, \u00a0dressage schooling show including Western and event Trail dressage\u00a0with international show judge and author Mitzi Summers.\u00a0 Definitely a success measured by the requests that we do a repeat program and compliments on the facilities.\u00a0For many riders this was the first time riding a dressage test.\u00a0We are planning a similar Dressage program in 2015.<\/p>\n

Sept. 6 was the third, pointed Open Show\u00a0of the season. While turnout was lower due to threatening weather and back-to-school “burnout,\u201d we held a full card of English, Western and the always a favorite gymkhana games\u00a0(barrel racing, pole bending) with a lot of whooping and hollering.\u00a0 These games are offered at all levels, including walk-trot\u00a0for\u00a0children.<\/p>\n

A well-received suggestion was made that we\u00a0include in our 2015 Show Calendar\u00a0a full day of Western classes and games. \u00a0Photos can be seen at Tazz Pictures (http:\/\/www.tazz.smugmug.com\/<\/a>) and Gray Pony Tack was a welcome addition and well-attended booth, offering\u00a0a wide assortment of\u00a0Western Tack.<\/p>\n

Sept. 13 – Jeff Dye Memorial Leukemia Fundraiser Trail Ride\u00a0through the scenic State Lands.\u00a0\u00a0This is\u00a0an\u00a0annual event\u00a0\u00a0in memory of Jeffery Dye,\u00a0a wonderful young man and important member of our community\u00a0who would have been 39 years old this year.\u00a0\u00a0Despite the rain, over 60 riders, plus families and supporters turned out to remember Jeff and enjoy a\u00a0day of trail riding, games, food and fun.\u00a0 Proceeds went to the\u00a0Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America.<\/p>\n
