(Oneida, NY \u2013 Feb. 1, 2015) Today, many of us are preparing for SuperBowl\u00a0Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0We have ordered our meat, veggie or fruit trays.\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019ve chosen our favorite soda, planned our appetizers, picked out our chips and dip.\u00a0\u00a0But what we may have forgotten is the less fortunate, the hungry in our community who must make difficult decisions.<\/p>\n

Milk is no longer a necessity but a luxury for many families as a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas. And with gas prices constantly changing, it is affecting food choices for our community.\u00a0\u00a0Many are unaware that though gas prices continue to fall, diesel has remained the same or risen affecting transportation costs for our food.<\/p>\n

Are you aware that Karing Kitchen served over 11,000 meals this past year?\u00a0\u00a0And the need continues to rise.\u00a0\u00a0For those individuals, I ask you to share your abundance.\u00a0\u00a0Donate to your church\u2019s food pantry or to Karing Kitchen.\u00a0Many may be asking but what can I as an individual do?\u00a0\u00a0Just one can of vegetables; fruit, meat or soup when added with other\u2019s donations helps us to feed the hungry.<\/p>\n

And with partnerships like the\u00a0Feinstein challenge, every donation received by Karing Kitchen from\u00a0March 1 to April 30\u00a0will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation who is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger, the importance of community service in education and the values of caring, compassion and brotherhood.<\/p>\n

Price Chopper is advertising a pound of boneless chicken tenders for 2.99 a pound for your parties.\u00a0\u00a0Do you know if you were to sacrifice 1 pound of chicken, you would be able to provide 27 pounds of food.\u00a0\u00a0100 percent of all donations are given out.<\/p>\n

So if you are asking yourself,\u00a0yes, there is a need!\u00a0\u00a0I can be reached at 761-8135 for any questions, comments, concerns or pick up of donations.<\/p>\n

I also wanted to take this time to thank the community especially all the churches and individuals who continue to support and help Karing Kitchen to operate.\u00a0\u00a0It truly could not function without \u201ckaring\u201d hearts like yours.<\/p>\n
