{"id":60864,"date":"2015-03-15T11:00:49","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T15:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=60864"},"modified":"2015-03-14T12:11:53","modified_gmt":"2015-03-14T16:11:53","slug":"utica-mayor-announces-pothole-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/?p=60864","title":{"rendered":"Utica Mayor Announces Pothole Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Palmieri.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-51154\" src=\"http:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Palmieri.jpg\" alt=\"Palmieri\" width=\"226\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Palmieri.jpg 226w, https:\/\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Palmieri-150x132.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a>(Utica, NY \u2013 March 14, 2015) Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri recently announced that for the second consecutive year he has directed DPW personnel and resources to focus on fixing potholes and improving street conditions in the City.<\/p>\n<p>The pothole campaign will begin Monday March 16th\u00a0and continue until Wednesday April 15\u00a0to accommodate green waste pickup.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s extreme winter weather caused severe damage to roads and infrastructure.\u00a0 Given the fact this winter was worse than last year and in anticipation of similar damage to roads and infrastructure, the City is being proactive in fixing and improving road conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Engineering Department will continue to monitor all road cuts and work closely with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA), National Grid and private contractors to ensure quality road cuts are being conducted.<\/p>\n<p>DPW will also utilize its Hot Box, which holds six tons of hot asphalt making pothole repairs more efficient and longer lasting (The Mayor and DPW Commissioner Dave Short learned of the Hot Box\u2019s effectiveness when visiting Schenectady).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the second year in a row we\u2019ve experienced harsh winter conditions that negatively impact our roads and infrastructure,\u201d Mayor Palmieri said.\u00a0 \u201cLast year\u2019s pothole campaign was successful and in coordination with DPW Commissioner Short we wanted to institute it as early as possible this year.\u201d\u00a0 The Mayor continued, \u201cI encourage residents to call my office to report potholes so DPW can fix them as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Residents can report potholes by calling the Mayor\u2019s office at\u00a0315-792-0100 x3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Utica, NY \u2013 March 14, 2015) Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri recently announced that for the second consecutive year he has directed DPW personnel and resources to focus on fixing potholes and improving street conditions in the City.
