Canal Clean Sweep is April 19<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(Brewerton, NY – March 2015) Here in Central New York, we\u2019re fortunate to have access to so many beautiful parks and historic sites. From hiking and horseback riding to swimming and fishing, there are many activities for the entire family to enjoy right here in our own backyard. This spring, join me in supporting and preserving our recreational and historic parks by paying a visit with your family and friends.<\/p>\n

Onondaga County is home to impressive outdoor spaces that offer affordable recreation for the entire family year-round, and especially during warmer weather. Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton boasts a playground, a picnic area, volleyball courts and a beach for visitors to enjoy, while Pratts Falls Park in Manlius is home to scenic trails that lead to an impressive 137-foot waterfall. Green Lakes State Park, with two glacial lakes amidst upland forest, offers golfing, picnicking and spectacular views.<\/p>\n

Those looking for a fun and educational day-trip will enjoy the Old Erie Canal State Historic Park, which winds all the way from DeWitt to Rome. This 36-mile stretch of the Old Erie Canal features remnants of stone aqueducts and gives visitors the opportunity to hike, picnic, bicycle, canoe and fish.<\/p>\n

New York State\u2019s parks and historic sites are a vital part of our community and culture, and it\u2019s important for us to protect them so that future generations can continue to enjoy everything they have to offer. That\u2019s why this year I\u2019m hosting the \u201cCanal Clean Sweep\u201d to help bring volunteers and community members together to preserve the historic Canalway Trail. Please consider joining me on\u00a0Sunday, April 19, at\u00a010 a.m.\u00a0at Lock 23 Park in Brewerton\u00a0to lend a helping hand and make a difference in our community.
