Library: Monday, April 20\u00a0at 3:30 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For ages 4 and older and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Using the Library\u2019s collection of LEGO and Duplo blocks,\u00a0children ages 4 and older and their families will have the opportunity to build and create something spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>Building offers children the experience of making their imaginative musings come to life.\u00a0 By introducing them to these hands-on experiences with science and math, children not only learn how to build different structures but how to also make them stronger and taller.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Poetry and Art Workshop for Adults\u2014Poems by the Lake: Cazenovia and the Romantics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, April 24\u00a0at 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Syracuse University Intern Carolyn Fragnoli, this workshop will focus on writing poems in the context of the romantic tradition.\u00a0 Nature was important to the romantics, so how can Cazenovia Lake and other natural surroundings inspire the poems written today?<\/p>\n<p>To find the answer, attendees will review some basic poetic concepts that were important to the romantic poets and explore how to write poems as modern day romantics.\u00a0 And then, using poems by romantic poets and local poets in the Cazenovia area as models, all will see how such elements as nature, tranquility, and beauty inspire their own poetry writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Poetry and Art Workshop for Ages 8-12\u2014Alphabets, Animals, and Leaves:\u00a0Making Poems for the Poetry Tree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, April 24\u00a0at 3:00 pm<\/p>\n<p>Fragnoli and Cazenovia Public Library Children\u2019s Coordinator Jenna Wright team up to conduct a poetry and art workshop for children ages 8-12.\u00a0 They will focus on sounds, images, and colors as well as on how to combine poetry with art.\u00a0 Children will then write and decorate poems that explore alphabets, animals, and nature and have them displayed in the library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Film\u2014Bending Sticks: The Sculpture of Patrick Dougherty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, April 24\u00a07:00 pm<\/p>\n<p>Bending Sticks\u00a0offers an intimate portrait of the artist Patrick Dougherty, whose career spans four continents and three decades.\u00a0 As an internationally acclaimed environmental artist, Dougherty has created over two hundred majestic sculptures out of nothing more than saplings.<\/p>\n<p>The film follows Dougherty and his collaborators during a year of \u201cstickwork\u201d revealing his creative process, his inspirations, his thoughts about the temporary nature of his work, and his unusual personal story.\u00a0It also\u00a0explores how the artist\u2019s childhood \u2013 spent rambling through the woods and building forts and hideouts with his four siblings \u2013 fueled his career and nurtured the prolific, insightful artist he is today.\u00a0(bendingsticksthefilm.com)<\/p>\n<p>Following the film, Emily Zoengle from Stone Quarry Art Park will relate Dougherty\u2019s involvement with the Art Park and his contribution to a project there in 2003.\u00a0 Also, visitors are\u00a0invited to enjoy the book display associated with Patrick Dougherty and\u00a0willow art, located by the circulation desk.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with\u00a0Bending Sticks,\u00a0the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation is sponsoring \u201cWillow Festival at the Willow Patch\u201d on Saturday, April 25th\u00a0from 10:00 a.m. to noon.\u00a0 Come to the Willow Patch off Mill Street in Cazenovia and play games, work and play on the willow basket sculpture, learn about the coal chute, and try your hand at planting new willows in the woven willow fence sculpture.<\/p>\n<p>Library events are held in the Community Room,
