Film\u2014Lyme Disease: A Silent Epidemic<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday, April 29 at 2 and 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

In this documentary, Chantal Perrin, a documentary filmmaker from France, tells the story of how people across the world are getting sick and how our health care systems continue to deny the existence of this growing medical threat, leading to widespread suffering and disability.<\/p>\n

This film highlights the politics of Lyme disease, the unreliability of testing, the rapidly spreading and multi-systemic nature of tick-borne illness, and how worldwide research is being hampered by social-political economic challenges.\u00a0 Made clear is that patients are suffering as the scientific community battles about the etiology and treatment of this disease, and that \u201cwe rapidly need to come to a clear scientific consensus, not a consensus of denial.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taking no sides,\u00a0Lyme Disease: A Silent Epidemic\u00a0explores the hidden side of this issue.\u00a0 53 minutes.<\/p>\n

Presentation\u2014The Transgenerational House: Answering the Challenge with James Pirkl<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

According to local resident James Pirkl, professor emeritus and past chairman of Syracuse University\u2019s department of design, \u201ctime and circumstances reshape one\u2019s expectations and priorities.\u201d\u00a0 In this presentation, Pirkl, will describe how and why he designed and built the first fully accessible \u201ctransgenerational house,\u201d aimed directly at accommodating aging Baby Boomers and beyond.<\/p>\n

This unique project sparks and promotes consumer awareness of\u2014and increasing demand for\u2014transgenerational housing and household products.\u00a0 Its range of innovative design solutions neutralizes the restrictive effects of aging, accidents, illness, and chronic conditions for people of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n

It also demonstrates that attractive transgenerational housing can provide and extend independent living, remove barriers, offer wider options, supply greater choices, and enhance the quality of life for all\u2014the young, the old, the able, the disabled\u2014without penalty to any group.<\/p>\n

All events will be held in the Library Community Room, and, as always, there\u2019s free popcorn at the movies.<\/p>\n
