O\u2019Sullivan formally announced his candidacy for Madison County Court Judge in the fall 2015 election. Nearly 100 family members, friends and supporters packed the Pewter Spoon Cafe in Cazenovia recently\u00a0to cheer on Judge O\u2019Sullivan as he made the announcement.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Madison County Court serves our citizens during the most turbulent times in their lives,\u201d said O\u2019Sullivan. \u201cIt&#8217;s vital that they come before a fair judge who is compassionate, objective and experienced in all aspects of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan currently serves as the elected Town of Nelson Justice (2006 to present) and appointed Village of Cazenovia Justice (2011 to present). As Municipal Judge, he presides over criminal and civil trials, misdemeanors, violations and traffic infractions, arraignment and preliminary jurisdiction over felonies, concurrent jurisdiction over Family Court matters, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>He also runs a legal practice, Goris &amp; O\u2019Sullivan in Cazenovia. As a Trial Attorney, he has spent 22 years working on civil and criminal cases in federal, state, county, town and village courts throughout Upstate New York.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, O\u2019Sullivan serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Syracuse University College of Law and Morrisville State College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving served as a Municipal Judge, defense attorney, prosecutor and educator, I\u2019ve seen the impact that County Court proceedings have on individuals from all angles,\u201d O\u2019Sullivan said. \u201cThis unique perspective has provided me with a fair and balanced understanding of how to best serve our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in his career, O\u2019Sullivan gained experience prosecuting criminal cases and serving as a high school teacher in challenging schools in the Bronx and Yonkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatrick O\u2019Sullivan exemplifies what we need in our next County Court Judge,\u201d said former Republican Chairman and retired County Clerk Kenneth J. Kunkel, Jr. \u201cHe has dedicated his life to helping others, and has the right balance of firmness and compassion that our citizens deserve in County Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan is a graduate of the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School (Juris Doctor), Iona College (Master of Science) and Daemen College (Bachelor of Science).
