Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean&#8217;s List.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUNY Oswego lists area recipients of advanced degrees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SUNY Oswego recently awarded advanced degrees and certificates to more than 100 graduate students, including several area residents.<\/p>\n<p>Robert D. Sprague of Washington Avenue in Oneida, bachelor of science degree in business administration<\/p>\n<p>Brianne R. Hecker of Hollow Road in West Edmeston, bachelor of science degree in accounting<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students Earn High School Degree at BOCES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Verona, NY \u2013 June 2015) More than 170 adult students from the region completed high school this week.<\/p>\n<p>The BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education (BCCE) recognized students on June 25 from its Rome, Oneida and Utica ACCESS Sites who earned their high school equivalency degree or earned a high school diploma through the External Diploma Program (EDP).<\/p>\n<p>During her welcome remarks, BCCE Director Kathleen Rinaldo told the class they are particularly noteworthy in their achievements as the first group in which all high school equivalency students passed the new, more rigorous TASC exam (which replaced the GED in 2014). BCCE\u2019s staff logged an 82 percent pass rate for its students, compared to the state\u2019s 62 percent pass rate. Local students also had higher overall exam scores than the state average.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so proud because our students outperformed the average New York State test taker in every subject area by 200 to 400 points,\u201d Rinaldo said. \u201cThis was a difficult, rigorous test.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, 153 students earned their New York State high school equivalency. They received their certificates from MOBOCES board member Richard Engelbrecht and literacy educators Judy Pawlikowski and Shawn Fuess.<\/p>\n<p>Another 20 students earned high school diplomas from the Camden, Canastota, Chittenango, Oneida, Rome, Utica and Westmoreland school districts. In addition, Naomi Fawn Emert, recently passed away and received her EDP posthumously; it was presented to her daughter. They received their diplomas from MOBOCES board member Richard Engelbrecht and EDP program assessors Susan Takacs and Jessica Holdridge.<\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony, students heard from two class speakers \u2013 Bobbiejo Williamson,of Camden, and Michelle Zielenski, of Utica, both EDP recipients \u2013 as well as several leaders from the MOBOCES adult literacy programs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Williams named to Dean&#8217;s list (June 2015) Erika Williams of Oneida was named to the Dean&#8217;s List at the University of New Haven for the Spring 2015 semester.
