(July 11, 2015) Representative Richard Hanna\u00a0recently announced fire grants for eight local departments that will help first responders and Emergency Medical Services organizations have the tools necessary to do their work and keep the public safe.<\/p>\n

The following departments in New York\u2019s 22nd Congressional District each received a grant for Fiscal Year 2014 through the Department of Homeland Security’s\u00a0Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program\u00a0(AFG):\u00a0Lisle Fire Company\u00a0(Broome County);\u00a0McGraw Fire Department\u00a0(Cortland County);\u00a0Georgetown Firemen\u2019s Association(Madison County);\u00a0Hamilton Fire Department\u00a0(Madison County);\u00a0Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department\u00a0(Oneida County);\u00a0Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department\u00a0(Oneida County);\u00a0Trenton Joint Fire District\u00a0(Oneida County); New Haven Volunteer Fire Corporation\u00a0(Oswego County).<\/p>\n

The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters\u00a0Grant program is to meet the firefighting and\u00a0emergency response needs of fire departments\u00a0and nonaffiliated emergency medical service\u00a0organizations.<\/p>\n

Since 2001, AFG has helped\u00a0firefighters and other first responders to obtain\u00a0critically needed equipment, protective gear,\u00a0emergency vehicles, training and other resources needed to protect the public\u00a0and emergency personnel from fire\u00a0and related hazards.<\/p>\n

The program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.<\/p>\n
