Michael Cappeto<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

(Morrisville, NY \u2013 July 15, 2015) Hamilton resident Michael Cappeto will serve as Morrisville State College\u2019s interim provost and vice president for academic affairs while the college searches for a permanent provost.<\/p>\n

Cappeto has an extensive career in higher education that spans 40 years. During that time, he has assumed administrative roles across a broad spectrum including student affairs, enrollment management, institutional research, college teaching, and academic affairs.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Cappeto was the interim president at SUNY Maritime College, where he served as provost and vice president for academic affairs, and director of institutional research and assessment.<\/p>\n

From 1992-2003, he served as dean of the college at Colgate University before joining the College Board as vice president for higher education assessment programs, where he oversaw the SAT.\u00a0 He also held various administrative and faculty positions at Harvey Mudd College, and Washington and Lee University.<\/p>\n

\u201cMike\u2019s breadth of experience will be a great asset to the college,\u201d said Dr. David Rogers, MSC president. \u201cI am confident that he will provide\u00a0seamless leadership for students, faculty, and staff while the search for a permanent provost is conducted.\u201d<\/p>\n

The provost position became vacant when Rogers, former provost and chief operating officer, was appointed the eighth president of Morrisville State College.<\/p>\n

Cappeto and his wife, Beverlee, live in the Hamlet of Poolville in the Town of Hamilton and met in college. Beverlee Cappeto had a successful higher education career as a chief financial officer at a think tank in Los Angeles, and in advancement services at Colgate, the Columbia Business School, and Fordham University.<\/p>\n

Cappeto earned his doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, as well as master\u2019s and bachelor\u2019s degrees from James Madison University.\u00a0 He was named by James Madison University as one of the 150 \u201cprofessors, students, alumni, and friends who have been changing the world since the college was founded in 1908.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cappeto served\u00a0on the US Department of Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee on Education from 2005-2010 where he helped re-write the Montgomery GI Bill.\u00a0 Locally, he served on the Poolville Community Center Board of Directors, and on the Earlville Opera House Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
