The CNY Regional Planning and Development Board, in partnership with Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego County Planning Offices, is developing a Regional Recreation and Heritage Plan to improve local quality of life and revive regional economic growth by guiding future improvements to the connectivity of existing regional recreational and heritage resources and by augmenting regional identity through recommendations for a wayfinding system to guide future visitors. We are seeking public input to collect and assess local inventories of the resources listed below, and gather ideas that will enhance use and connectivity of those resources:<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0bike routes, scenic routes, public boating and swimming access<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0museums, historic sites, and adaptive reuse opportunities (buildings, parks, and brownfields)<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0working landscapes, agricultural tourism, festivals, events and happenings<\/p>\n

o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0natural areas, outdoor recreation, hiking, scenic areas, overlooks and waterfalls<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Central New York Regional Planning & Development Board (CNY RPDB) is providing community outreach coordination, planning, writing, and mapping assistance working closely with five CNY Counties in this regional planning effort. Community input is essential to the success of this planning. A public agency, the CNY RPDB was established in 1966 by Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties and provides a comprehensive range of services associated with the growth and development of communities in Central New York with a focus on the following program areas: Energy Management, Community Development & Comprehensive Planning, Economic Development, Environmental Management, Information and Research Services, Intergovernmental Coordination, and Transportation Planning. Thanks to the above listed organizations for their offer to host these community meetings.<\/p>\n
