(NYSID) will coordinate\u00a0NYSID WORKS!A Community &#8220;Thank You&#8221; Event\u00a0on\u00a0Thursday Sept.17\u00a0to thank New York State for creating jobs for New Yorkers with disabilities \u2013\u2013 a celebration of work by working.<\/p>\n<p>This day of service is in appreciation for thousands of job opportunities for New Yorkers with disabilities. The Arc of Madison Cortland will join NYSID, its member agencies and corporate partners in a day of volunteer service in communities across New York State.<\/p>\n<p>Each NYSID member agency or corporate partner is choosing a local non-profit in need of a small beautification project. Through these joint, statewide community service projects, member agencies, corporate partners and NYSID send a unified, heartfelt message of gratitude to legislators, business and community leaders across New York State for creating employment opportunities for New Yorkers with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>NYSID WORKS!\u00a0complements NYSID&#8217;s 40th anniversary theme of &#8220;40 Years of Looking Forward&#8221; while also seguing into National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1975, NYSID (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysid.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nysid.org<\/a>) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation which creates employment opportunities for nearly 6,800 New Yorkers with disabilities annually. NYSID supports job creation efforts for a diverse group of New Yorkers with disabilities through a statewide network of 170 community rehabilitation agencies and private sector business partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Central New York Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Arc of Madison Cortland volunteers at Clear Path for Veterans (1223 Salt Spring Road, Chittenango) from 9:30\u00a0to\u00a011:30 a.m.\u00a0Volunteers from The Arc of Madison Cortland will perform grounds cleaning, including raking leaves, pulling weeds, gathering sticks, planting flowers, etc.<\/p>\n<p>In the event of\u00a0inclement weather, volunteers\u00a0will perform cleanup work inside. Clear Path for Veterans is the site of one of NYSID&#8217;s eight\u00a0Battle Buddy Centers across New York State.
